BELLES: a play in two acts and forty-five phone calls

The Walker sisters, born and raised in Memphis, now live in six different US cities and communicate solely by phone.  The eldest, Peggy, who remained with Mama in Tennessee, calls her siblings when their mother is hospitalized – nothing serious, she just ate some bad tuna - but the phone calls lead to sometimes comedic and sometimes brutal confrontations about the past and the present.

The Featured Cancer Partner for Belles was:joe's house
"Joe's House is a non-profit organization, which serves cancer patients, their advocates, and social workers by providing a national online directory of local lodging accommodations. Our website, www.joeshouse.org offers hundreds of different types of lodging facilities near hospitals and cancer treatment centers."

Heiress Productions' fall show was the NYC premiere of THREE MOVEMENTS by Martin Zimmerman.

Based on the life of the famed ballet choreographer George Balanchine, the play follows a fictional choreographer as he nurses his wife, his greatest dancer, through polio. Unable to face the reality that she will never dance again, he convinces himself he can save his muse. Soon frustrated with her lack of progress, however, he leaves her to pursue a very promising teenage dancer.
Three Movements examines the complex relationship between choreographer and dancer, the power of eroticism in art, and how people choose (or refuse to) confront illness and the aging process.

Proceeds from THREE MOVEMENTS went to Us TOO, usTooa grassroots organization started in 1990 by prostate cancer survivors to serve prostate cancer survivors, their spouses/partners and families. They are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to communicating timely and reliable information enabling informed choices regarding detection and treatment of prostate cancer. Ultimately, Us TOO strives to enhance the quality of life for all those affected by prostate cancer. www.ustoo.org
